- -----------------------------------
-
- 21 Nov 94 Ver 1.75
- -------------------
-
- - I've moved. Please note my new address!
-
- - There were no releases between ver 1.71 and ver 1.75. The interim
- release numbers were skipped to reflect major revisions to the area code
- database.
-
- - Ver 2.0 of FAC has been delayed. There is also a Windows version of FAC
- in development, but it has also been delayed. I apologize for the delay.
- Hopefully all the new area code additions will make up for the delays in
- getting new versions out. Thanks to those of you who have shown your
- support for shareware and registered FAC.
-
- - Added the new Illinois 708 to 630 area code split
-
- - Added the new California 310 to 562 area code split
-
- - Added the new Texas 713 to 281 area code split
-
- - Added the new Virginia 703 to 540 area code split
-
- - Added the new Colorado 303 to 970 area code split
-
- - Added the new Georgia 404 to 770 area code split
-
- - Added the new Florida 813 to 941 area code split
-
- - Added the new Washington (state) 206 to 360 area code split (starts
- permissive dialing in January 1995 with mandatory dialing in July
- 1995).
-
- - Added the new Alabama 205 to 334 area code split
-
- - Added the new Arizona 602 to 520 area code split (starts
- permissive dialing in March 1995 with mandatory dialing in Jul
- 1995).
-
- - Added the new Pennsylvania 215 to 610 area code split
-
- - Added the new North Carolina 919 to 910 area code split
-
- - Added the new Michigan 313 to 810 area code split
-
- - Added the new Ontario 416 to 905 area code split
-
- - Made one change to Georgia area codes due to movement of 33
- communities from the 706 area code (back) to the 404 area code
- (started March 1993).
-
- Note: thanks to Carl Moore for information about some of these new
- area code splits.
-
-
- 1 Dec 92 Ver 1.71
- -------------------
-
- - Added new area code for California, 909 (effective November 1992).
- All of Riverside and San Bernadino counties use this new area code.
-
- - Added new area code for Texas, 210 (effective November 1992).
-
- - Added new area code for New York City cellular phone users, 917. As
- other cellular area codes are added (as they inevitably will be), you
- can simply type "cellular" as a search string to show them.
-
- - Added ability to redefine hotkeys using the /K switch. You can now
- define almost any hotkey combination. Thanks to registered users,
- Bristol Information Systems and also Nicky Shelton for "pushing" for
- this feature.
-
- - Added a registration bonus. When you register FAC, you'll receive a
- FREE bonus file containing almost 43,000 U.S. ZIP codes with city,
- state, and county information on each ZIP code. This file is intended
- to be searched using FAC, but in fact, could be used with other
- programs.
-
- NOTE TO PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED USERS: You are entitled to this file at
- no charge other than shipping & handling. Send a SASE disk mailer
- (with 2 oz postage), or send $5.00 and I'll send the file to you on
- disk. Alternatively, I'll provide the file via CompuServe or via the
- MicroManiac BBS (303)673-9470 at no charge. Send CIS requests to
- 72737,3237 and MicroManiac! BBS requests to Mike Molloy.
-
- - Added postal abbreviations for most countries.
-
- - Improved /P handling of directories. If you like, you can append a
- backslash to the directory name you specify.
-
- - Added the /Y switch to use the default external data file for ZIP
- code searching (especially useful to registered users with the
- ZIPCODES.DAT file described above).
-
- - Fixed a bug in which the program aborted and shut down when it
- encountered a .DAT file line longer than 127 characters. Now it will
- handle this line without aborting, but it won't be displayed in the
- normal wordwrapped fashion like the rest of the lines.
-
- - Minor cosmetic changes. Minor changes to documentation.
-
- - Recompiled using Borland Pascal with Objects 7.0 (real mode target)
- and Object Professional 1.20.
-
- - Note: since the CompuServe Electronic Mall Store, Software
- Excitement! has closed, you can no longer register there by credit
- card. Credit orders are still being taken by Public (software)
- Library (PSL); please see REGISTER.DOC for details.
-
-
- 13 Aug 92 Ver 1.67

- 404 and the rest of northern Georgia uses area code 706.
-
- - Fixed bug in which the "Swapping..." messages didn't default to off
- when EMS memory was used.
-
- - Minor cosmetic changes.
-
-
- 15 Feb 92 Ver 1.66
- -------------------
-
- - Corrected area code database entries in which the line was too long
- and caused an incorrect display.
-
- - Changed code so that if EMS memory is used for TSR swapping, the
- "Swapping..." messages default to off (since swapping is almost
- instantaneous).
-
- - Made minor cosmetic changes to command line output messages.
-
-
- 14 Jan 92 Ver 1.65
- -------------------
-
- - Corrected date/time stamp on files from 1991 to 1992 (sigh); it took
- less than 24 hours for someone to notice this. Thanks everyone, and
- sorry for the silly error. (In case you're wondering why this is
- critical, many of the finer BBSs examine the date/time stamp of
- uploaded ZIP files and reject uploads older than a year...)
-
-
- 12 Jan 92 Ver 1.64
- -------------------
-
- - Added about 250 additional cities to the area code database.
-
- - Corrected spellings of some cities.

- - Added the file "FILE_ID.DIZ" (this is a PCBoard compatible
- description file in 8 line x 45 character format).
-
- - Minor code optimization/shaving
-
-
- 5 Jan 92 Ver 1.63
- -------------------
-
- - Bug fix: registered users weren't able to serial number stamp this
- version.
-
- - Bug fix: Fixed an initialization problem which sometimes displayed
- hits/colors incorrectly.
-
- Thanks to Charles Kleis for spotting these so quickly; of course he
- was the first to ever register, too.
-
-
- 1 Jan 92 Ver 1.62
- -------------------
-
- - Improved performance of the fuzzy search by about 10 percent.
-
- - Fixed minor/occasional bug related to display colors and
- wordwrapping after an autozoom (thanks to Stan Brown of Oak Road
- Systems).
-
- - Made minor updates/changes to the area code data base.
-
- - Fixed monochrome operation bugs: color of "searching" message during
- fuzzy search and "not found" message
-
- - Reduced code size by about 2K.
-
-
- 28 Dec 91 Ver 1.61

-

- -- California 310 (split from 213)
- -- California 510 (split from 415)
-
- - Thanks to Mike Haney (a registered user) of Data I/O Corporation
- for pointing me to this information.

-
- - Modified the routine which gets word under cursor (TSR mode) to
- ignore the "()" characters.
-
- 14 Sep 91 Ver 1.50
-
- - Added capability to search an external data file. If the default
- file MY-DATA.DAT exists, it will be searched in whatever search mode
- the program is in. This file will be searched when run from the
- command line or while running as a TSR.
-
- - Added /D switch to specify the name of the external data file to
- use. This switch works from the command line or when FAC is installed
- as a TSR.
-
- - Added the F5 key to prompt for a line of data to append to the
- default/specified external data file. The F5 key can add data to the
- external datafile without leaving the program, including while

- output and the documentation.
-
- - The Find Area Code (FAC) distribution file is now created using
- PKZip's Authenticity Verification (AV) feature. This guarantees BBSs
- and users virus-free, unmodified files. If after unzipping your
- distribution files you don't see the message:
-
- Authentic files Verified! # EOA070 MICHAEL K. MOLLOY
-
- get another copy of the file from me, CompuServe, another vendor, or
- another BBS.
-
